School Valentine

If you're in Sascha's class at school expect to get one of these with a lollipop poked through his hand.

I uploaded the pic and he designed the rest in Photoshop.
So he likes Daft Punk and Tron....
I did have him remove the tomatoes he had over his eyes.
And the Mexican hat.
I thought the mustache was cute.

Here's the pic I got the idea from.
Can't remember the site though...

Summer Activity Ideas

I came across this sweet site last night and thought I'd pass it along. It's always nice to have extra ideas to fill the summer. Hope you're having a great one. We are! I'll blog more later about my Momma's visit. Yes, still playing "catch up."

Here's the link to the site "The Long Thread"

Who Wants to SAVE Money?

...and multiply your food storage???

Being the "bargain seeker" that I am, I thought I would share with you an amazing tip that a good friend of mine posted on her blog. Thanks Gina!!! Click here to read her post. Make sure you scroll down toward the bottom where you see a picture of groceries and then start reading. Click here to view her post with the grand total. Here's one more post you may be interested in... click here.

So... last night I decided to check it out and see if I, too, could save some green ones. I started out by going to Pinching Your Pennies.

Then I clicked on "State Forums."

Then I scrolled down to, and clicked on "Utah's Screaming Deals."

Then I found where it lists the most recent Albertson's ad and clicked on it.

Everything else should be pretty self-explanatory. It will show you all the items in the add, along with the price and whether there's a coupon you can use and if so, what the final price will be with the coupon. It has some links for you to print out coupons.

Anyway, I had to pass this along to all my friends and family because I CARE!!! lol....

Some of the things I bought was: 2-18pk eggs, 3 gallons milk, 13 boxes of cereal, 2 boxes of granola bars, 4 boxes mac n cheese, 4 cans progresso soup, 2-6 packs ramen, 2 lbs pasta, 2 cans olives, 4 cans Hunts spaghetti sauce, 4 cans tomato soup, 2 lbs mayo, ketchup, 5 lbs. ground beef, almost 5 lbs drumsticks, tortillas, 7.5 lbs bananas, 6 lbs apples.

My total bill tonight was $67.63, with coupons tendered being $81.81, and total items purchased: 55. Total Savings: $83.92.

I know I'm sounding a little too excited about this, but I think you will too if you try it out and see how much you save and how little you pay. Yahoo!!!

I'd love to hear your success stories too with this whole coupon thing. I'm all about deals 8-)

Nostalgia

Having been born in the seventies, some of my favorite shows to watch were these. While searching for these pics on Google, I was able to find that CBS has full length episodes of The Love Boat on their website. Yay!!! I LOVE this show!!! Click here to watch:

You can also watch full length episodes of Family Ties. Click here.

For the past two weeks I've missed out on one of my favorite shows, ER. It just so happens that every Thursday evening I go play volleyball, which is one of my favorite sports to play. That's also the same evening as ER. Mind you, this is the VERY LAST season. boo hoo.

I have a couple of friends who Tivo the show. By the time I asked them if they still had the epsiode, they had already deleted it. That's when one of those friends let me in on a little secret. You can watch movies and tv shows for free on this website called hulu. I was so happy! Now I can catch the shows I missed anytime I want. Thought I'd pass this tip along to you.

How to Make Beautiful Wall Art

I came across this on SugarDoodle when I was looking for Conference Packets. It looked like something I might need to take upon myself and do one of these days. Check it out:

How to Make Beautiful (and Affordable) Wall Art
by Emily Norton from the Little Window Shoppe

What you Need to Get Started: (All materials may be obtained at your local craft store)

Styrofoam: 1″ x 12″ x 36″ blocks of Styrofoam

Other Materials:

Scrapbook paper: 12″ x 12″ (or 12″ x 12″ Photos or 12″ x 12″ squares of fabric)
Ribbon, 1″ or 7/8″ matte ribbon (you will probably need about 12 yds)
Ruler
Sharp pencil
Serrated knife
Thick, white craft glue or Elmer’s Cement Glue
Straight pins (optional)
Nine Sawtooth picture hangers or foam adhesive squares
1-2 hours to complete

{Photo Steps by DIY Maven from Curbly}

1. If you want to include photos in your collage, decide which photos you want to use and then crop them to 12″ x 12″ at 300 dpi. You can also go to a photo lab if you need a little help getting your pictures formatted just right. Coordinating colors, black and white photos or sepia tones seem to work best so that your colors do not clash.

2. Choose matching colored designer scrapbook papers at your local craft store. (Or visit these links to find cute paper: Luxe Classic Black or Black Berry Paper).

3. Buy 12″ x 36″ x 1″ blocks of Styrofoam and cut them into 12″ x 12″ blocks with a utility knife, be sure to keep the lines as straight and perfect as possible. You may want to use foam board for this instead, but if you like the depth, Styrofoam would be best.

4. Set the photos and papers how you want them. Spread white craft glue on the foam square (or Elmer’s cement glue may be better - this is supposed to help keep your paper from rippling), center your 12″ x 12″ paper or photo, and adhere it to the foam. Repeat, covering all foam squares. Once you have glued, press the Styrofoam upside down against a flat surface to obtain good adhesion.

5. Pin or glue your ribbon around the edges. You’ll want to pull it as tight as possible and once you pin it, you may want to color the pins to match the ribbon.

6. Finally, after it’s dry, attach it to your wall: You can either use a small saw-tooth picture hook for the back of each Styrofoam block, or if you want to skip the nails altogether you can attach foam adhesive squares to each corner and press them onto the wall. Foam corners don’t adhere very well to Styrofoam, so you may need to glue them to the Styrofoam for extra strength.

My inspiration and tutorial information for this project came from two helpful sources. The top photo is courtesy of Myra from We Make Three and Moon and Back Studios. I loved her personal touch to this wall art collage with her family photos included and I thought that her hands-on tutorial was really thorough. The second photo comes from Dow Crafts, where they also include a basic tutorial and list a variety of additional craft projects that you can make out of Styrofoam.
